Our Products and Pet Safety
You may be wondering if our Candles are safe for pets. The answer to that is yes but diligence and awareness is required.
We have 3 wonderful pets here at Wildwood Creek (2 Dogs and 1 Cat) and we have made sure to use non-toxic, plant-based ingredients such as Soy-Coconut Wax and Lead Free Cotton Wicks. Our pups and cat often visit us in our production space but we make sure our ingredients are stored and our processes are done in a pet-safe manner and of course, we use our own products every day!
Keeping Your Pets Safe
Depending on the speciific Essential oil, high scent concentrations in candles can also produce vapours that can irritate or harm pets.
The good news is, we use a low concentration of Essential Oils in our products which greatly reduces the risk of harm.
So what can you do to protect your pets?
1. Keep your candles out of reach and covered when not in use
The last thing you want is your Dog or Cat to start licking the wax when your candle is not in use. Keeping the lid on your candle when not in use and burning it out of reach will avoid this from happening.
2. Be Observant
While our Candles are mildly scented, Dogs and Cats have a much better sense of smell. This means whatever you're smelling is much stronger to your pet. This would be especially true for stronger/fragrance-based scents. If your pet seems to leave the room every time you burn a candle, you may want to consider moving the candle somewhere else or providing a source of ventilation. This would be even more important for pets that are caged and are unable to simply walk away.
